I used to live near the big stadium in Lusail, with my
friend Luz. We were scared of people, but we never
wanted to hurt anyone. We just wanted to be left
alone.
Before the World Cup, everything changed. The area
was being cleared, and we had nowhere to hide. Trucks
came. My sibling Luz and I were the last ones left.
Then someone came who didn’t chase us away. She
waited. She spoke gently. She brought food. Slowly, we
got closer. She didn’t scare us—she saw us.
That’s when everything changed.
We were rescued. The car ride was scary, but Luz was
by my side. Now, we’re safe. We have shelter, gentle
hands, and full hearts.
We are a bit scared and shy. People call us “sweet
girls” now.
They’re right.
If I have my toys and yummy food I’m happy. I’ll be
happier when I have those in a forever home.
